What is Critical Hit ?
Critical Hit (Touche Critique in French) is a website dedicated to smart miniature wargames that are often overshadowed by the industry giant. Our mission is to give these games the visibility they deserve and help their communities grow. We offer guides, tips, and original content to shine a light on these wargames with refined mechanics that encourage strategic thinking.
These games deserve a bigger spot in your game collection – and we’re here to make that happen.
Who are the writers?
The editorial team is made up of several members, each focusing on a specific miniature game:
- Jack Brussell covers Star Wars: Legion;
- Starpu takes care of Marvel Crisis Protocol;
- AlanAnas writes about A Song of Ice and Fire;
- Wep’tak focuses on Malifaux;
- Maurice covers Bolt Action.
Jack Brussell

Founder and editor of this site, I go by the pseudonym Jack Brussell. Born in 1991 in Brussels, I (re)discovered miniature games in 2020… and ended up wanting to write about them!
So in January 2022, I launched the website ToucheCritique.com. The initial goal? To create useful and educational articles for the French-speaking Star Wars: Legion community.
Starting in September 2024, with a pilgrim’s staff in hand, I set out to meet other wargaming communities to broaden the scope of the site. Since then, Touche Critique has featured many more miniature games, to the delight of an ever-growing audience!
Starpu

I’m Franck, also known as Starpu. I’m just past 40 and got into the hobby at age 12. Like many, I started out with 40K and dabbled in Battle, but my competitive side really kicked in with Warmachine. I followed the game in France from its very first starter box to the release of MKIII. That’s where I recorded my first podcast episodes and began writing strategy articles and painting tutorials. After a short detour through Guild Ball, I even managed to convince myself the hobby wasn’t for me anymore…
But a few years later, dragged back in by my eternal rivals, I rediscovered the fun thanks to the excellent game Gaslands. Still, I quickly realized I missed competitive play. That led me to try the Pokémon TCG, where I began making YouTube content. Eventually, I fully embraced my tournament spirit again with the release of Infinity’s N4 – and more recently, with Marvel Crisis Protocol!
AlanAnas

My name is Alan, I’m 34 years old and fairly new to the world of wargames. A longtime fan of Total War games, I discovered this world thanks to an enthusiastic Belgian YouTuber covering Total War: Warhammer 2. After diving into The Imperial Library, I became curious about Games Workshop and started buying minis just for fun.
Being a huge Star Wars fan, it was only natural I fell in love with Star Wars: Legion (who doesn’t enjoy vaporizing clones with an AAT cannon?), but my true awakening came with A Song of Ice and Fire, a game that’s not just about battlefield clashes – it also captures the behind-the-scenes intrigue!
Wep’tak

Like many others, I fell into the wargaming pot as a kid – back in the 90s – and I never stopped. I also enjoy roleplaying games and board games. I love discovering new rules and game systems, which means I play a lot of different wargames, both historical and fantasy/sci-fi. Still, there are a few I always return to, like Infinity, One Page Rules, Fireball Forward, Blücher, 5 Leagues from the Borderlands, and 5 Parsecs from Home (the sci-fi cousin of the previous one). I’m not really into competitive play (some of those are solo/coop or don’t even use army points…), but meeting fellow wargamers at a tournament is priceless!
Maurice

Christophe, aka Maurice, 51 years old. My journey through imaginative hobbies started early – first with toy soldiers and marbles, then with roleplaying games in middle school. I’ve played many games, invented my own, and even written scenarios. In the 90s, I got into wargames like Squad Leader and Warhammer 40K. After a break, I returned to RPGs and miniatures in 2009. I even created a roleplaying section for my local library, which I ran for 5 years. During the pandemic, I got back into painting minis and started designing my own miniature game. Most recently, I discovered and really enjoyed Bolt Action.
